Circulation and Reserve: Loan Period and Fines

Loan Period

Students may borrow books for 28 days. Students can have up to 25 books checked out at any one time.

Faculty and staff may borrow books for 120 days. Faculty can have up to 60 books checked out at any one time. Other staff can have up to 40.

The Instructional Media Center has different loan periods.

Renewals

Renewals are permitted: an additional 28 days for students and an additional 120 days for faculty/staff. You may do this once online yourself, assuming the book is not overdue. Click on the "My Account" tab in LIUCat. Any further renewals must be done in person at the Circulation Desk.

Fines

Overdue fines are 10 cents per day with a seven day grace period. However, on the eighth day, the fine for the full eight days will be owed.

Make sure that you don't have any overdue books or owe a fine. You won't be allowed to check out additional books or have access to our online databases until you return, renew, or pay for the items. You can find out your status by checking your account or contacting the Circulation Department.

Lost Cards
Students must pay $25.00 at the Bursar's Office before going to the Public Safety department for a new card (or have Public Safety bill your account).
